Baroque Unbound invites audiences on a journey through some of the most powerful and imaginative music of the Baroque era, performed on authentic period instruments. The programme moves from Telemann’s vibrant dances to Vivaldi’s dramatic Sinfonia in C major and the hauntingly evocative La Notte Recorder Concerto, before reaching new heights with the world premiere of Anthony Ritchie’s harpsichord concerto, Four Seasons in One Day—written especially for this tour. The concert concludes with Bach’s much-loved Orchestral Suite No. 2, showcasing the lyrical brilliance of the baroque flute.
At the heart of the tour is internationally acclaimed Czech soloist Julie Braná, joined by an ensemble of leading baroque specialists from New Zealand and abroad. Together, they create a performance that is both historically authentic and strikingly fresh.
Audiences will not only experience Baroque music as it was originally heard in 17th–18th century Europe, but also enjoy the rare chance to meet the musicians and explore the instruments after the performance.
A rare cultural experience blending history, innovation, and world-class artistry—right here in your community.
"Their authenticity of timbre and stylistic delivery was outstanding...billed as vibrant and innovative and certainly impressed." Review by Elizabeth Baumann ODT
